The exhibition is held every two years and is co-sponsored by the Nuremberg International Expo Group in Germany and the media Vincentz of the coatings industry. Since it was first held in 1991, it has been successfully held for 15 sessions and has now developed into the largest professional exhibition in the overseas coatings industry.

The 2023 European Coatings Exhibition was successfully held in Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany, on March 23-25. The exhibition is co-sponsored by the Nuremberg International Expo Group and the Coatings Industry Media Vincentz. Since it was first held in 1991, the exhibition has been successfully held for 16 sessions. This exhibition welcomed 1018 exhibitors (1156 in the last session in 2019, a decrease of 138, a decrease of about 12%), and the net area of the exhibition hall reached 40000 square meters, a decrease of 2000 square meters from the previous session, a decrease of about 5%. The three-day exhibition brought 30500 spectators from 42 countries and regions (to be determined, 124 countries and regions in the last session) (30198 spectators in the last session, an increase of 302). The report was released about a month after the exhibition. The exhibition is the second largest professional exhibition in the world coatings industry after Chinacoat. It can be seen that the brand and influence of ECS exhibition are gradually expanding in the world coating industry.

The European Coatings Exhibition covers a wide range of content, including coating raw materials, coating additives, resins, pigments, fillers, adhesives, inks, construction chemicals, experiments and production equipment. This exhibition country attracted famous companies in the industry such as Evonik (3C), Dow (Dow Europe,3A), Wacker (Wacker,1), Huntsman (Huntsman, 5), Arkema (4A), Solvay (Solvay,1), Ashland (Ashland,3) and so on. BASF and AkzoNobel did not participate in the exhibition, possibly subject to a large decline in last year's performance.

The 2019 exhibition attracted famous companies in the industry such as BASF, Evonik, Dow Chemical, Wacker Chemical, Huntsman, Arkema, Solvay Group, Akzo Nobel, Ashland and so on. According to the official data of the organizers of the exhibition, 91% of the audience of the European paint exhibition are the decision makers of the company's procurement. This means that for exhibitors, participating in the European Coatings Show is the best channel to deal with decision makers in various countries.

The exhibition audience covered many fields such as coatings, inks, adhesives, construction chemicals and downstream application industries, and 98% of the exhibitors were satisfied with the exhibition.

In recent years, the enthusiasm of Chinese paint raw material enterprises to participate in foreign paint exhibitions has been increasing. More than 220 Chinese enterprises participated in the European paint exhibition in 2019, such as Wanhua Chemical, Zhejiang Fenghong, Jiangsu Sanmu, Anhui Excalibur, Longpython Baililian, Venus Titanium White, Anada Titanium Industry, Jinan Yuxing, Kuncai Technology, Runtai Chemical, Shuangle Pigment and other exhibitors have achieved good exhibition results.
