The "Earth Hour" movement has brought about great changes in the awareness and actions of people around the world to save energy and protect the environment. The event was launched in Sydney, Australia in 2007 with more than 2 million participants and has attracted billions of people from nearly 200 countries and regions around the world. Organized by WWF Vietnam and the Ministry of Industry and Trade since 2009, Earth Hour Vietnam aims to raise public awareness of climate change and energy conservation by encouraging households and businesses to turn off lights and unnecessary electrical appliances for one hour.2025 is the 17th time that Vietnam will participate in the event. In the 17 years since the "Earth Hour" event in Vietnam was held, it has received attention and response from 63 provinces and cities across the country, as well as many institutions, organizations, enterprises and people. This indicates a positive change in the community's perception of the economical and efficient use of energy. With the dissemination effect of the "Earth Hour" event and the promotion of the implementation results over the years, the Ministry of Industry and Trade launched the "National Energy Conservation Response to 2025 Earth Hour" campaign with the theme "Green Transformation-Green Future". The campaign does not stop at calling for energy conservation, but also aims to achieve the broader goal of encouraging sustainable energy production activities, increasing the use of renewable energy sources, promoting the use of energy-efficient products and equipment, and contributing to the improvement of energy efficiency, both economically and environmentally. In order to make the activities of the plan meaningful and effective, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has requested the people's committees of all provinces and municipalities directly under the Central Government and the Vietnam Electric Power Group to cooperate in organizing publicity activities in response to the "Earth Hour" event in March, attracting the attention of many organizations, institutions and people in all provinces and cities and participating in the event. Mobilize organizations, institutions and individuals to turn off lights and unnecessary equipment during the lights and respond to Earth Hour. Vietnam Electric Power Group (EVN) is one of the typical units, and has always actively cooperated and effectively implemented the plan. Vietnam Electric Power News Agency actively responded to the "Earth Hour" event, using the Internet, digital transformation, and social network communication power to vigorously carry out power-saving and environmental protection publicity. The group also requires provincial and municipal power companies and power supply companies to strengthen power saving and environmental protection publicity at customer transaction points and unit headquarters. At the same time, groups, institutions and customers will be mobilized to respond to the campaign by turning off lights and unnecessary electrical appliances from 20:30 to 21:30 on Saturday, March 22, 2025. After years of active participation, Vietnam's "Earth Hour" event has been launched strongly across the country and has become a meaningful annual event held every March. From advocacy to the present, the event has made an important contribution to turning awareness into concrete actions to encourage communities to save electricity, use energy efficiently and protect the environment.
