India and Singapore sign letter of intent for green shipping and digital corridor cooperation

The two sides will cooperate on the digitalization and decarbonization of shipping projects.

Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) Sarbananda Sonovar (Sarbananda Sonowal) attended the signing ceremony of the Letter of Intent (LoI) between India and Singapore on maritime digitalization (digital corridor cooperation) and decarbonization (green shipping). Dr. Amy Khor, Singapore's Senior Minister for Sustainable Development and Environment and Ministry of Transport, attended the signing ceremony. The letter of intent was signed by R. Lakshmanan, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare of Singapore, and Teo Eng Dih, Director General of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore. According to the letter of intent, the two sides will cooperate on maritime digitalization and decarbonization projects, including identifying relevant stakeholders who can contribute to this work, and working to formalize the partnership through the Singapore-India Green Digital Shipping Corridor (GDSC) Memorandum of Understanding. Speaking at the ceremony, Sonovar said: "The signing of this landmark letter of intent marks an important step forward in bilateral cooperation towards modernizing maritime operations and advancing green shipping efforts. The Singapore-India Green Digital Shipping Corridor, which will drive innovation and accelerate the adoption of low-emission technologies, Sonowal also inaugurated the India Pavilion with Singapore's Senior Minister, Dr Amy Khor. He also inaugurated the IRClass pavilion during the ongoing Singapore Maritime Week (SMW).
