GNFC awards 200,000 t/a nitric acid plant contract to ThyssenKrupp Udhe India

The third plant will increase GNFC's capacity by about 57% and meet downstream demand.

Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited (GNFC) has contracted with ThyssenKrupp Ude India Pte Ltd (TKUIPL) for the supply of 0.6 billion tonnes/day (MTPD)(0 billion tonnes/year or MTPA) weak nitric acid-III plant on an LEPC basis. The agreement was reached following approval by the company's board of directors on August 13, 2024.

GNFC said in a regulatory document: "The board of directors approved the installation of a weak nitric acid III plant with a daily output of 600 tons (I .e. an annual output of 200,000 tons) on August 13, 2024. Since then, GNFC and ThyssenKrupp Udhe India Private Limited (TKUIPL) have reached an agreement to supply the weak nitric acid III plant in LEPC mode."

TKUIPL, in cooperation with its parent company, ThyssenKrupp thyssenkrupp Uhde, provides process technology and licenses for the weak nitric acid-III plant.

GNFC currently operates two nitric acid plants licensed by ThyssenKrupp Wood. The third plant aims to strengthen the company's market presence while maintaining its commitment to environmental protection. The company said: "The third plant will increase GNFC's capacity by about 57% and meet downstream demand to support the India manufacturing movement and is committed to environmental protection."

GNFC began its manufacturing and marketing operations in 1982 by establishing one of the world's largest single-stream ammonia-urea fertilizer conglomerates. Over the next few years, GNFC successfully launched different projects in different areas such as chemicals, fertilizers and electronics.
