The investment boom in Indonesian smelters has emerged. PT Borneo Aluminum, PT Amman Mineral and PT Freeport Indonesia have opened smelters in many places to promote the development of aluminum and copper industry and help the country's industrialization process.

investment in the Indonesian smelter sector is heating up. PT Borneo Aluminium recently launched a Rs 16 trillion alumina smelter in the Mempawah area of West Kalimantan with an annual capacity of up to 1 million tonnes. The smelter will connect ANTM's bauxite mined in West Kalimantan with Inalum's aluminium smelter in North Sumatra, forming a complete supply chain.

At the launching ceremony of the smelter

, Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Joko Widodo) said that Indonesia is entering a new stage in the downstream processing of natural resources through a series of infrastructure developments, marking a new starting point for Indonesia's industrialization. He stressed that the operation of these smelter facilities is an important symbol of Indonesia's industrialization process.

In addition to the Mempawah alumina smelter, the Indonesian government also operates a PT Amman Mineral copper smelter worth Rs 21 trillion in the Sumbawa area of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The smelter covers an area of 272 hectares, about 1.5 kilometers from the port of Benete, and has an annual capacity to process 900000 tons of copper concentrate. Its main products include 0.22 billion tons of copper LME Class A cathodes with a purity of up to 99.99 percent and sulfuric acid with a purity of 98.50 percent.

In addition, PT Freeport Indonesia has opened a smelting facility with a total investment of Rs 56 trillion in Gresik district of East Java. The smelter will import 1.7 million tons of copper concentrate from Papua and produce 900000 tons of copper cathodes, 50 tons of gold and 210 tons of silver annually, contributing to the growth of Indonesia's national revenue.

The construction and operation of these smelters in

not only enhanced Indonesia's competitiveness in the aluminum and copper industry, but also promoted the development of the local economy and the increase of employment.
