BASF India has opened a new plant in Dahej to expand its Celasto-branded MCU capacity to meet the rapidly growing demand in the Indian market. The new plant will use advanced technology to consolidate BASF's position in the automotive industry.
BASF India Limited has officially laid the foundation stone in the Dahej district of Gujarat with the aim of expanding the production capacity of its Celasto brand Microcellular Polyurethane (MCU). This strategic move marks BASF's continued commitment and depth to the Indian market.
New Plant Planning and Expectation
the new plant, which is expected to be operational in the second half of 2026, will first introduce a new mold production line to meet the rapidly growing needs of the local market. The production line will use industry-leading technology and automation systems to ensure the continuation of BASF's high safety and quality standards. The establishment of the center is not only a supplement to the existing production capacity, but also an advance layout of future market demand.
BASF India's historical footprint
as early as 2014, BASF India has established its first MCU plant in Dahej region, focusing on providing excellent NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) solutions for the automotive industry. This move not only enhances BASF's position in the Indian market, but also accumulates valuable industry experience and market insight.
The outlook of the company's top management
mr. Bioern Kophstahl, Vice President of Global Business Management at Celasto, said, "The establishment of the new plant is an important part of our innovative production process. As market demand grows, we will flexibly adjust our production plans to ensure continued capacity growth." Mr. Alexander Gerding, Managing Director of BASF India, emphasized: "This new mold production line will greatly enhance our ability to provide innovative NVH solutions and further strengthen our position as the preferred partner for automotive customers."
