Turkey's Industrial Outlook: A Focus on Production and Financial Sustainability

Share:

Karadeniz Ömer, a Turkish industrialist, stressed the importance of production for the country's development, while noting the challenges faced by Turkish industrialists in terms of financing and industry competitiveness, and called on the government to support and implement production-focused policies.

Ömer Karadeniz, President of the Federation of Turkish Plastics Industrialists (PLASFED), recently emphasized that Turkey's future as an industrial country lies in continuous production and development. He pointed out that although Turkey is not an oil country, it has a strong production capacity. If the conditions are met, it is entirely possible to become an important production base.

Production as the core driving force for development

Karadeniz repeatedly referred to the importance of production for national development, arguing that there could be no development without production. He stressed that Turkish society knows how to produce efficiently and this ability is the key to the country's future competitiveness. At the same time, he also pointed out that in order to improve the level of development, it is necessary to focus on production and seek innovation to provide higher value-added products.

The Challenge of Financial Sustainability

however, Karadeniz also admitted that Turkish industrialists face huge challenges in financing. He said that many industrialists have reduced production due to shortage of funds, which has caused a considerable impact on the industry. He called on investors to focus on financial sustainability as an important factor in ensuring future development. At the same time, he also hopes that the government can provide more financing support to ease the financial pressure on industrialists.

Industry status and challenges

when talking about the current situation of the industry, Karadeniz pointed out that the PMI data of the Turkish manufacturing industry is still below the thresholds of 48.3 and 50 in February 2025, which marks the contraction trend of the industry. The decline, which has been going on for 11 months, reflects the plight of industrialists, he stressed. He believes that for the sustainable development of the industry, it is necessary to implement a policy of focusing on production to enhance the competitiveness of the industry.

The double challenge of innovation and environmental protection

Karadeniz also mentioned that in order to increase competitive production and export opportunities in the global market, the Turkish plastics industry must produce in accordance with European standards and live in harmony with the environment. He suggested that the industry should seek ways to reduce costs without sacrificing quality and increase added value. At the same time, he also emphasized the huge sacrifices made by Turkish industrialists in the production process, and believes that this situation is not sustainable and new solutions need to be found.
