South Korea SK Group recently expressed interest in implementing the $2.11 billion Quynh Lap LNG thermal power plant project in Nghe An province in central Vietnam during a meeting with provincial leaders.

At the meeting, the Group introduced the implementation plan of the project and hoped to be approved.

The project is located in Joonla Township and the investment is expected to be US $2.11 billion. The project covers a number of parts, including LNG power plants, gas storage facilities, receiving ports, breakwaters and ancillary works, with a total area of about 210 to 360 hectares.

In addition, the project will feature a receiving port that can accommodate ships up to 100,000 dwt.

The project is scheduled to be in commercial operation by 2030.

Once completed, the power generated by the plant will be connected to the 500kV Quang Trach-Quynh Luu-Thanh Hoa transmission line, or consider connecting to the Nghi Son LNG thermal power plant.
