UBE has launched a large-scale DMC and EMC plant project in Louisiana, with an estimated annual production capacity of 100000 tons of DMC and 40000 tons of EMC. It is planned to start production in 2026.

recently, UBE Corporation officially launched an ambitious construction program in Louisiana to create a modern plant for the production of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) and ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC). On February 13, the groundbreaking ceremony of this important project was solemnly witnessed by everyone, attracting about 180 guests, including local government officials, community representatives and project contractors. UBE's senior leaders, President Masato Izumihara, and CEO Yuki Nishida were also present to celebrate this milestone.

as an unprecedented manufacturing investment in UBE's history, this new factory carries the company's vision. As the only DMC and EMC manufacturer in the United States, UBE is committed to maximizing production efficiency through highly automated production lines. At the same time, the plant will form a strong synergy with UBE's recently acquired high-performance polyurethane systems business, further strengthening the company's leading position in the field of specialty chemicals. UBE has always adhered to the corporate philosophy of "harmonious coexistence, prosperity and development", and strives to bring substantial and positive contributions to the local community.

DMC and EMC are key components of lithium battery electrolyte solvents, and their market demand is growing with the popularity of electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles and energy storage systems. In addition, DMC also plays an important role as a developing material in the field of semiconductor manufacturing. UBE will use its original gas-phase nitrous oxide process for DMC production, which is more competitive than traditional vinyl processes due to its low energy consumption, high quality and low by-products. It is reported that after the plant is put into operation, the annual production capacity is expected to reach 100,000 tons of DMC and 40,000 tons of EMC. The entire project is expected to be completed in July 2026 and officially put into operation in November of the same year.

looking to the future, UBE is making steady progress towards becoming a company focused on the global environment, human health and the future needs of society, providing innovative specialty chemicals. To achieve this vision, UBE is actively expanding its low-energy, highly flexible and highly profitable specialty business footprint, while actively fulfilling its environmental commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The construction of the Louisiana plant is an important part of this strategic blueprint.
